Travels and Encounters_Episode 4 :Rejuvenation of rains
I came down here , adjusting myself inside the mini bus stand near my college. God know when it would rain, so does he know when would the bus arrive. But today, the first one arrived unexpectedly before the second. Lots of men and women gleam the corner of the road, to get a glimpse of bus so they could get to choose the best seat in the bus.
Roads are slippery, with water filling the corners. So are the seats in the buses. This would be the only time one would find people preferring to stand in spite of abundance of seats filled with water. Everyone glances the corner again with anticipation, but fate disappoints everyone replacing the bus with a lorry.
Bus stand has become a refugee camp not only for humans , but also for flies, street dogs, chameleons and lizards. The spot one would find a perfect harmony and coexistence during rainy days. Being 45 km outskirts the city, the place never would give the cell tower a chance to receive the signals. The signal in the mobile is at its low, question of connectivity and data is pointless.
Everyone glances at the cars on the road, If they could be kind enough to give them a lift. But no one stand a chance. The only entertainment is to shoo away flies and dogs near you. Suddenly a unfamiliar sound stole everybody's attention. It was a beggar decked up in bright yellow shirt and veshti, with a soggy naadaswaram playing a sad tune, approaching the so called roadside shops for money.
When the rain starts to intense again, the crowd inside the bus stop squeezes as pedestrians and motorcyclists rush into the bite sized shelter. Everybody made enough space to secure one side of their body, while the other drenched in rain.
After two hours of waiting. The bus arrived. The rains has enhanced the serenity of the green fields. Intensified the beauty of the dense forest, washing away the pollution and dirt. The butterflies patterned the fields and birds chirped with joy. The calf's leaped across the field, while dogs wagged their tails with joy.
The advancement in technology has moulded humans with certain lifestyle, eventually forgetting to enjoy nature when it is at its best, rather cursing natural phenomena for its interruption of their daily work. Technology has increased our needs and decreasing our time.
